Acting on that instinct, Amy breaks into a Mercedes in Dublin Airport’s long-stay car park and watches the terminal and taxi rank below. Amy’s plan is to identify Eddie, follow him, question him, and kill him if necessary, despite having no weapon. While waiting for passengers from the flight to emerge, Amy keeps turning over larger uncertainties, including whether Henk van Veen, François Loubet, or even Jeff Nolan could be involved. Amy rejects the idea that Jeff would try to kill her, though Amy remains uneasy and unconvinced by reports of Jeff’s death.

A text from Rosie briefly interrupts Amy’s surveillance: Rosie sends a cheerful bar photo with Steve, showing that both are safely back at the hotel. Moments later, Amy’s vigilance is justified when the back windscreen of the Mercedes explodes under gunfire. Eddie has not come through the terminal as expected; instead, he has located Amy first and opens fire from behind the car, proving that he is even more capable than Amy feared.

With no gun and no way to start the car, Amy improvises. Amy lies low until Eddie approaches the driver’s side to confirm the kill, then kicks the door open into him and uses the opening to escape. Amy dives over the car-park parapet onto the floral WELCOME TO DUBLIN display, and Eddie fires once more before deciding not to continue in such a public place. Amy sprints across the access road, jumps into a taxi, and orders the driver to take her to the Temple Bar Hotel. Even as another shot smashes the taxi’s back window, Amy gets away and heads back toward Rosie and Steve.
