In the parking lot at Emory Executive Airfield, Rosie, Amy, and Steve watch Eddie Flood's plane take off. The sight confirms that their misdirection has worked: the man sent to kill Amy is now on a ten-hour flight to Hawaii, chasing Barb and Barb's daughter instead of staying on Amy's trail. Amy's group also now has Eddie Flood's name and a scan of his passport photo from Carlos Moss, giving them a clearer picture of the threat pursuing them.

With Eddie diverted, Rosie, Amy, and Steve prepare to leave for St Lucia on a chartered Falcon that Carlos says has just been refuelled for them. As they head toward the terminal, Steve carries his small rucksack while Carlos helps with the luggage. During the walk, Amy remarks on Steve's obvious affection for her, then admits that Amy finds it hard to accept love, and Carlos gently tells Amy that Amy should work on that.

Before they board, Carlos warmly says goodbye. Steve resists a hug, but Carlos embraces Steve anyway, joking about the South Carolina heat and warning the trio not to get killed. After Carlos leaves, Amy suggests that Rosie should put Carlos into one of Rosie's novels as thanks. Rosie replies that Carlos is already in one of Rosie's books, and Amy finally drops the pretense of not having read them. The chapter ends with Rosie directing the porter toward their chartered plane as the three continue their escape and next move.
