As soon as Steve, Amy, and Rosie enter Bluff Point, Nelson Nunez and a young accomplice ambush them and tie them to kitchen chairs. Nelson explains his problem: a man in Dubai told him that Rosie D'Antonio must not be killed, but that the person traveling with Rosie should be. Because both Amy and Steve are with Rosie, Nelson does not know who the intended target is. While Rosie stalls him with threats and jokes, Amy and Steve try to learn who hired Nelson and whether the order came from François Loubet.

Nelson first leans toward releasing them because he says he is not really an assassin, just a criminal who expected easy money. That changes when a message arrives identifying the target as Amy Wheeler. Nelson decides to kill Amy and then let Steve and Rosie risk dying later in a supposed road accident, which would leave him paid and protected. As Nelson's nephew raises his gun, Steve realizes Rosie will not cut through her ties in time.

Because Steve's rough nails have already worked through his own bindings, Steve suddenly breaks free, reaches into Rosie's jumpsuit for the hidden gun, and fires. Steve wounds Nelson's nephew in the shoulder and then shoots Nelson in the leg as Nelson tries to flee. Rosie frees herself, then cuts Amy loose. The balance of power immediately reverses, and the three captives become the interrogators.

Amy takes the gun and pressures Nelson for information about Bella Sanchez's murder. Under threat, Nelson says a local police officer killed Bella and then bought a speedboat afterward. Nelson also says blood was found at the murder scene but did not match anyone, which confirms that the evidence around Bella's death remains suspicious. Amy then forces Nelson to send a message to his Dubai contact. Steve argues that a partial truth will work better than a false destination, so Nelson reports that Amy and Rosie are still hiding at Emerald Bay, hoping to keep Eddie Flood on St Lucia and buy the group time to escape.

As Amy and Steve haul Nelson and his injured nephew out for medical help, Steve asks again about François Loubet. Nelson says he once received a message from Loubet, but insists the sender was not a Frenchman at all. According to Nelson, the message clearly came from an English man. That final clue gives Steve a new idea about the identity behind the name "François Loubet."
