Amy runs along the beach at Emerald Bay until she reaches a spot away from the resort, then uses a cheap phone to make a secret call. The care Amy takes to isolate herself and use an untraceable device shows that Amy still believes she is being hunted and cannot safely contact people through normal channels.

The call reaches Susan Knox, who retrieves a hidden mobile from a locked desk drawer and answers expecting Jeff Nolan. Amy tells Susan that Amy is alive but uncontactable because Henk had been trying to track Amy down. Amy then asks an apparently strange question about where the company blood and drug tests are kept, pushing Susan toward the subject of Amy’s missing blood sample.

Susan realizes Jeff must have told Amy about the incident and explains that Amy’s blood alone disappeared from a locked room and a locked freezer. Susan admits Susan initially suspected that Amy had taken it herself and therefore did not investigate properly. Amy denies taking it and asks who could have accessed the sample, narrowing the list to medical staff, senior staff, Susan, Jeff, and Henk.

When Susan says the theft happened at the end of April and confirms that Henk still worked at the company then, Amy gains more reason to suspect an internal connection to the conspiracy around Vivid Viral. Amy also asks whether clients could ever gain access, though Susan doubts that explanation. Before ending the call, Amy orders Susan to deny hearing from Amy if police, Henk, or anyone else asks, then warns that Amy does not think anyone is safe.
