Chapter 6
Overview
Carl and Donut join Sister Ines’s team on a rocky beach to capture a monk-seal totem, learning the flag must be physically planted and that the seals fight like brutal melee tanks. Examining a sleeping sentry triggers Carl’s forced-involvement quest, The Chowder War, pitting monk seals against migrating land crabs for a Platinum Quest Box.
Their first fight goes sideways when the seal blocks ranged attacks and nearly kills Paz during his immobile Turtle defense, forcing Carl to intervene up close. They successfully flag and defeat Yago, earning an Uncommon totem card for Team Sister Ines—only for another seal to immediately rush in, setting up a repeat attempt.
Summary
Carl, Princess Donut, Paz, Anton, and Sister Ines travel to a deserted rocky beach to try capturing a “monk seal” for their squads. The group’s tension continues to ease as Mongo plays with the newcomers, and Carl learns more about their classes: Sister Ines is a poet-laureate bard healer, Paz is a Santero (necromancer cleric/tank), and Anton is a rogue-like “fugitive.” They also compare gods, with Paz and Anton protected by Ogun while Carl and Donut remain tied to Emberus.
As they approach a lone sleeping seal, Sister Ines explains that the capture flag must be physically shoved into the target and that their earlier attempt failed, costing them a flag. Carl examines the monster and discovers it is Yago, a Level 70 Monk Seal Picket Sentry, which triggers a new quest called The Chowder War. The quest forces Carl to choose a side between monk seals and migrating land crabs, promising a Platinum Quest Box reward while warning that the conflict will drag them in regardless.
They execute a coordinated plan: Sister Ines, Donut, and Anton attack from range while Paz draws aggro and Carl approaches under an invisibility potion to plant the flag once the seal is low. Yago wakes, taunts Paz in a Cuban accent, and launches into fast, acrobatic “kung fu” body slams strong enough to shake the beach, rapidly chewing through Paz’s Turtle shield.
Mid-fight, Yago casts a new protection that blocks ranged attacks and clears his debuffs, leaving Paz pinned in Turtle form and seconds from being crushed. Carl sprints in and punches Yago to pull attention away, buying time until Paz’s Turtle ends; Paz immediately counters with a massive summoned mace and knocks the seal down. With Yago’s health flashing at the capture threshold, Carl stabs the flag into Yago’s head, and the seal vanishes as the deck resets.
Carl receives an Uncommon totem card—Yago’s card—but it is owned by Team Sister Ines and cannot be collected or traded until activated by their squad leader; it also warns Carl about squad-slot rules if he were to collect it himself. As Carl hands the card to Sister Ines, another Level 70 monk seal, Geraldo, charges toward them yelling, and Carl asks if they want to try the capture again.
