Carl clings to Samantha’s pigtails as Amayon’s dump sends them falling, and Samantha angles their descent back toward the damaged FOSCA building. They reach Princess Donut on a scorching metal beam, where she has Lazarus summoned and ready to fire an RPG at Amayon. Carl stops Lazarus, realizing Amayon is ignoring them as long as they do not interfere; Amayon only wants to finish a spell to go home, while possessed demons continue attacking the party.

Carl and Donut move down through broken floors toward the others, learning the group is trying to reach Imani and Tran, who are trapped two levels below. As they descend, demon crabs swarm the building and some open portals to hell: one grabs Author Steve Rowland and sucks him away, and another later snatches Lazarus, eliminating his totem entirely.

Katia reports Imani and Tran are pinned in a pocket while Elle, Bautista, Britney, and others dig through rubble to reach them. Carl offers Phase Through Walls potions to slip through and deliver help, but Elle explains the phasing will cause an uncontrolled drop that could splatter Tran if Elle cannot physically support him while phased. With enemies pressing in and allies running out of cards, the group commits to digging while holding the demon crabs back.

Carl pivots to an emergency escape plan: he orders Donut to burn through her hand and get to her staff totem so she can use Puddle Jump to pull everyone out. Since Donut lacks the Hole spell in hand and cannot discard immediately, Carl tells Donut to summon Alpha Carl and Shi Maria and use the Golden Combo to combine them, both to clear the combo card and to create a temporary defender while the team digs.

Donut summons Alpha Carl and then Shi Maria, whose huge body warps the corridor as she manifests. A notification tells Carl “The Scavenger’s Daughter has been fed,” charging his interface with black energy, but Carl refuses to unleash it in the collapsing building. Before the Golden Combo can resolve as intended, Shi Maria impales and destroys Alpha Carl, forcing the combo to retarget; the system selects Carl as the next available minion target, and Carl is unwillingly combined with Shi Maria.
