They then return to the central stakes: when Connie asks who killed Holly, Ron says Elizabeth believes the killer will reveal themselves once Elizabeth has the piece of paper. Connie offers Ron one last chance to back out and let her fetch it alone, but Ron says it is far too late for that. When the cage arrives, Ron sees Bill Benson waiting beyond the grille and thanks Connie for helping despite everything; Connie replies that she owes someone a good deed, and Bill opens the cage.
