Lucy decides she cannot wait any longer for Matt to return her calls, so she drives to their old house to confront him. On the way, she texts Ben that she is going to Matt's and jokes that if she dies, he should make a podcast about her murder, underscoring how dangerous and foolish the visit feels to her. As she approaches the door, Savvy's voice urges violence, but Lucy shuts the idea down.

Before Lucy can knock, a small red-haired woman comes out dragging two heavy suitcases. Lucy realizes the woman is Julia, Matt's second wife, and helps her load the bags into a car. When Lucy says she is there to talk to Matt about murder, Julia breaks down crying. At the same time, Ben texts Lucy back in alarm, and Julia urgently warns Lucy not to go inside because Matt is in a bad mood.

Instead of letting Lucy confront Matt, Julia says she wants to help and asks to speak to Ben, the podcaster. Ben and Paige meet Lucy and Julia in Ben's hotel room. Lucy feels deeply uncomfortable being there, partly because of her private relationship with Ben and partly because she resents how much he knows about her life. Ben brings Julia coffee and prepares to hear what she has to say.

Julia says she wants to give an interview about what Matt is really like, what their marriage has been like, and things he has said about Lucy. She explains that after hearing neighborhood women talk about Matt, she realized she cannot stay silent if she wants to live with herself. Ben asks whether Julia knew Savannah, and Julia says she did not. Paige's reaction makes it clear this new turn catches her off guard.

As Julia prepares to expose Matt, Lucy realizes her presence could complicate the interview and makes an excuse to leave. Julia initially clings to her, but Paige agrees that Lucy should go. Lucy leaves the room before Julia begins speaking, setting up a potentially damaging new account of Matt's behavior and his version of Lucy.
