After Lucy admits she thinks about killing Ben, Ben stays calm and asks what she means. Lucy explains that she has intrusive thoughts about killing people in general, not just Ben, and that she mentally chooses whatever weapon is available. When Ben asks what she would use in the room, Lucy matter-of-factly lists the glass, the knife, the lamp, and even a pillow later while he sleeps.

Ben listens instead of stopping her, and Lucy notices that he wants to ask to record the confession but knows better. As Lucy keeps describing methods and weighing how realistic they are, the conversation becomes more intimate and more threatening at the same time. Lucy then recognizes that Ben is sexually aroused by the danger rather than frightened away by it.

Acting on that shift, Lucy gets onto Ben's lap, puts her hands around his neck, and says she could strangle him immediately. She begins having sex with him while continuing to choke him, mixing violence, control, and intimacy into one act. Lucy reminds Ben that he took Paige's key back and asks how long it would take for anyone to discover his body if she killed him there.

Lucy imagines the story his death would create: the podcaster murdered by the woman he was trying to exonerate. As Savvy's voice in Lucy's head urges her on, Lucy tightens her grip until Ben's body jerks and then goes still long enough to suggest she has pushed him close to the edge. Lucy finally releases him, Ben recovers his breath, and when Lucy whispers that maybe she will kill him later that night, Ben only smiles.
