Looking at his photo and profile stirs both resentment and longing, because Sydney remembers how strongly she once felt about Jake and how certain she had been that their relationship would lead to marriage and children.

Acting on impulse, Sydney calls Jake late at night. Jake answers, and Sydney immediately feels safer just hearing his voice. Sydney asks about Bonnie’s case, hoping for reassurance that police have found Bonnie’s killer, but Jake says there have been no arrests and no usable identification from the DNA and fingerprints in the apartment.
