Tom lies awake after hearing his mother go upstairs and realizes she likely suspects he did something to his father. He checks the living room and sees that the bloodstain on the sofa is still visible despite her cleaning. Thinking about Daisy and unable to accept losing her after her father forbade contact, Tom decides to sneak out and see her.

Tom goes to Daisy's house, gets her attention at her bedroom window with pebbles, and persuades her to come outside. Daisy is upset and tells Tom that her father, the police chief, believes Tom killed Alison and Brandi with Slug. She also reveals that Slug had been peeping into Brandi's window and that other girls have accused him as well, which deepens the suspicion around both boys.

Daisy then shares a more damaging detail: on the night Alison disappeared, Alison called Daisy after seeing Tom and Slug stuffing something suspicious into a trunk, and Alison said there was blood on Tom's hands. Tom lies and claims Slug was only borrowing sports equipment. He insists that he loves Daisy and would never hurt Alison, and Daisy wants to believe him, but she says her father's suspicions still put Tom in serious danger.

When a light comes on in Daisy's house, Daisy says she has to go back inside. Desperate not to lose her, Tom asks her to meet him later, and Daisy agrees to sneak out at one in the morning to meet behind a deserted Dairy Queen. After they kiss, Tom privately fixates on Daisy's pulse and imagines her blood spilling from her throat, revealing that he may be dangerous to her as well. Daisy goes inside, and as Tom leaves the yard, he realizes someone has been watching him: Slug.
