At the visit, Millie sits anxiously in an open-backed gown after a nurse reacts to her blood pressure reading, increasing Millie’s dread.

Dr. Sudermann, who looks surprisingly young but confident, confirms Millie’s blood pressure is very high. Millie argues that stress from the move, parenting, and work is the cause and implies medication shouldn’t be necessary. Dr. Sudermann agrees stress can contribute and suggests stress management like meditation, but insists Millie must start blood pressure medication immediately.

Millie leaves resentful, feeling too young to need this kind of treatment, but plans to comply because Enzo will be upset if she does not. Dr. Sudermann also orders additional testing, including blood work, a mammogram, and a renal ultrasound, and Millie picks up the prescription at the pharmacy before heading home.

Back on Locust Street, Millie sees Jonathan Lowell on his porch and reluctantly stops when he calls her over. Jonathan explains that Nico broke a plate while doing chores to repay the cost of the broken window, then left the broken dish without telling anyone. Jonathan says they are ending the arrangement and Nico should stop coming over, though Jonathan emphasizes that Millie does not owe them anything.

Millie notices Suzette watching from a front window and, feeling provoked by Suzette’s flirtation with Enzo, decides to give Suzette “a taste of her own medicine.” Millie steps close to Jonathan, touches his shoulder, and tries to flirt so it will look suggestive from the window. Jonathan reacts with visible discomfort, checks behind him toward the house as if to confirm Suzette saw, and hurries inside, leaving Millie humiliated and more suspicious that Suzette is constantly monitoring them.
