Adrienne sits through a dinner Luke has cooked, unable to eat because EJ has spent two days blackmailing her again. She has concluded that the situation cannot continue, even though she wants a future with Luke and is devastated that EJ is threatening the one relationship that truly matters to her.

When Adrienne says they have a problem, Luke mistakenly thinks she does not want him to move in. He reassures her that he will wait, which makes her even more emotional. Adrienne then tells him EJ still has another copy of the video of her slashing the stranger's tires and is making new demands.

Luke reacts with frustration but says Adrienne should not give in, even if the video becomes public. Adrienne pushes further, saying the blackmail will never stop while EJ is alive. Luke is confused and uneasy, and he urges her to accept the consequences rather than do anything extreme.

Adrienne then reveals the worst part: EJ also has a video of Luke breaking into EJ's house, accessing the laptop, and forcing open a desk drawer. Luke is horrified and angry because he had warned Adrienne that helping her could get him into serious trouble. Adrienne apologizes and tries to redirect his anger toward EJ.

Adrienne openly suggests that killing EJ is their only real solution. Luke refuses repeatedly, becomes visibly sickened, and finally shouts that he is not going to kill anyone. He storms out of the house, pulling away when Adrienne tries to stop him, and leaves in a rage.

After Luke drives away, Adrienne realizes she may have destroyed their relationship. Even so, she decides Luke will not suffer for EJ's actions. Grieving the loss of Luke and blaming herself for ever getting involved with EJ, Adrienne resolves to deal with EJ on her own.
