After putting away groceries, Adrienne sends Luke back to his apartment and lies that she has a headache. She keeps EJ’s renewed blackmail from Luke because Luke already warned her there might be more copies of the video, and Adrienne knows he would insist on being present for the meeting. Adrienne decides to handle the situation alone by offering EJ a large sum of money to make him disappear.

As Adrienne waits through the evening, she becomes increasingly anxious and barely eats. When EJ finally arrives after nine, Adrienne lets him in despite immediately feeling fear and disgust. She demands to know what he wants and offers him a check, but EJ says money no longer matters because his parents recently died in a car crash, leaving him their heir.

The news shocks Adrienne because EJ had previously fantasized about his parents dying exactly that way. Realizing she gravely underestimated him, Adrienne now sees him as dangerous rather than merely manipulative. She tries offering him another oxycodone prescription, but EJ rejects that too and reveals what he really wants: sexual access to Adrienne, insisting she let him do anything he wants to her.

Adrienne refuses, orders EJ out, and says she will call the police even if he releases the original video. EJ then reveals that the blackmail no longer concerns only Adrienne. He shows her security footage from his house of Luke using Adrienne’s keys to enter, search for the laptop, force open a drawer, and attempt to access EJ’s computer.

EJ explains that obtaining leverage over Luke was his true goal because he knew the original video alone would not force Adrienne to submit. Adrienne begs him not to ruin Luke and offers money and pills, but EJ says all he wants is her. Before leaving, EJ gives Adrienne a few days to think about whether refusing him is worth destroying both her life and Luke’s career. Once he is gone, Adrienne collapses on the sofa, shaking and trapped by the new threat.
