Lying in bed with Luke Strauss, Adrienne Hale cannot stop thinking about the oxycodone prescription she wrote for EJ. Adrienne knows EJ will not stop with one demand and fears his blackmail will only intensify. Even while Luke comforts her and talks about the large portrait of Adrienne over the mantle, Adrienne remains preoccupied by the danger EJ poses.

The mood shifts when Luke tells Adrienne that he loves her. Instead of responding happily, Adrienne bursts into tears. Luke assumes his confession may have upset her, but Adrienne clarifies that her distress comes from another problem and finally admits that a patient is blackmailing her. She confirms that the blackmailer is the same man who has been texting and showing up at odd hours and explains that he has a video that could destroy her career.

After Luke asks what can be done, Adrienne raises the possibility of using Luke's old hacking skills to find and delete the video. Luke resists because he cannot simply hack into EJ's computer remotely and recognizes the legal risk. Adrienne pushes further, suggesting that she could get EJ's apartment keys so Luke could enter the apartment and erase the file directly.

Luke remains uneasy and warns that EJ could still have another copy somewhere else, but Adrienne insists EJ probably does not. Realizing persuasion alone may not be enough, Adrienne pleads with Luke, says she needs him, and tells him that she loves him.
