Overview

Polly returns with antibiotics and discovers Tegan is gone; Hank admits he took Tegan to the hospital. Feeling betrayed and fearing arrest, Polly lashes out, framing Tegan as their last chance at a child. She then pretends to be stable to prevent intervention while Hank considers calling a doctor and a lawyer. Polly resolves to act on her own to "make this right."

Summary

Polly returns from the pharmacy with cephalexin and enoxaparin, hopeful the medications will cure Tegan’s infection without requiring IV antibiotics. She notices the front door and basement door are open and discovers the basement bed empty, fearing the police rescued Tegan and are about to arrest her.

In the living room, Hank arrives and calmly admits he took Tegan to the hospital because she was sick. Polly feels betrayed, declaring that Tegan represented their only chance at a baby and blaming Hank for ruining their lives. Hank repeats that he had to act.

Polly rebuffs Hank’s attempts to comfort her, retreats to the bedroom, and locks the door. Concerned she may harm herself, Hank threatens to call 911 with a new phone if she doesn’t open up. To avoid being detained, Polly composes herself, opens the door, and insists she is fine.

Hank refuses to leave the house, saying he will call Dr. Salinsky and possibly a lawyer, and tells Polly he loves her. She echoes the words to placate him. Hank goes downstairs, remaining wary but trusting her for now.

Alone, Polly focuses on the perceived betrayal and lost motherhood, waiting for an opportunity when Hank eventually leaves. She silently resolves to “make this right,” implying she has a plan despite the growing risk of legal consequences.
