Jackson arrives with takeout and a baby onesie, then reviews final contract details for an NDA that will secure lifelong support from the child’s father. She accepts the secrecy-for-support deal, suspects Jackson has been advancing his own cash, and is told Simon will come sign soon.
Summary
Jackson Bruckner returns to Tegan’s apartment with Chinese food. While Tegan devours it, Jackson presents a pink onesie that makes her pregnancy feel real. He reiterates he’s there for business and notes only minor contract details remain before she signs the agreement that will provide substantial financial support.
Tegan recounts how, eight months earlier, a night out near her brother Dennis’s ski resort led to a drunken fling with a charming businessman. After missing her period, she chose to keep the baby. Months later, she recognized the man on TV as real estate developer Simon Lamar and reached out, hoping for support and acknowledgment.
Instead, Tegan learned Simon is married with two children. A paternity test confirmed he is the father, but he refused contact. Through Jackson, Simon offered a lucrative NDA: lifelong financial support for Tegan and the child in exchange for secrecy. Tegan accepted, seeing it as the safest way to secure her daughter’s future.
Back in the present, Jackson provides another envelope of cash and mentions the bank, prompting Tegan to suspect he’s been advancing his own money. He informs her that Simon will come in a few days to finalize and sign the contract, and Jackson will attend. Tegan is grateful for the deal yet privately wishes she had met someone like Jackson that night, while resolving to move forward with the arrangement.
