The water reveals how dehydrated she is, but the pain in her ankle persists and she worries about lasting damage.

When Polly retrieves the glass, her sleeve reveals a deep bruise on her wrist. Tegan immediately suspects Hank is violent. Polly lights vanilla-scented candles and moves efficiently, while Tegan struggles with discomfort as the baby kicks. In small talk, Tegan pretends to be married and impulsively names her supposed husband “Jackson,” claiming he is a lawyer, to avoid judgment about her pregnancy.

Polly elevates Tegan’s legs despite the pain and asks about Tegan’s destination; Tegan admits she was driving to visit her brother. Discussing food, Polly enforces pregnancy precautions, rejecting cold cuts and hesitating over tuna due to mercury, but ultimately agrees to make a tuna sandwich.
