Sheila Lin unexpectedly appears after Katarina Shaw and Heath Rocha stop during a failed lift. When Heath explains that he thought Katarina might be hurt, Sheila says that elite skaters must continue no matter what happens and orders them to run the program again without stopping. Heath is angry and afraid of injuring Katarina, but Katarina reassures him and they restart.

The second attempt begins in strong sync, and they finally get through the lift itself. However, the exit from the lift turns into a clumsy tangle, and the mistake throws them behind the choreography. Because Sheila has demanded that they fight through errors, Katarina and Heath force themselves to keep going, chase the music, and finish the program even though the performance is messy and exhausting.

When the music ends, Katarina realizes that her blade has sliced Heath's thigh during the bad dismount. Heath focuses bitterly on the fact that they finished, but Sheila is already turned away giving attention to another team, Arielle Moreau and Lucien Beck. Heath leaves the ice to inspect the cut, and Garrett Lin comes over with a first aid kit and offers technical help instead of sympathy.

Garrett demonstrates the lift with Katarina, and the movement feels suddenly easy, powerful, and controlled to her in a way it never has with Heath. Garrett even guides her through a harder dismount without getting cut, which makes Heath's jealousy obvious. Garrett then invites Katarina and Heath to Sheila's Fourth of July party; Heath hesitates, but Katarina accepts immediately because the invitation could give her more access to Sheila.
