As the skaters get ready for the New Year’s Eve gala, several girls tease Bella about Heath and imply that their relationship is obviously more than professional. Bella insists that she and Heath are only skating partners, but Katarina notices Bella’s evasive tone and thinks about the widely circulated photos of Heath and Bella together in Japan. Katarina tries to dismiss those images as calculated publicity, yet Bella’s discomfort makes Katarina suspect there may be more behind them.

After the others leave, Katarina asks Bella to talk privately about Heath. Katarina says she does not want details, but warns Bella that Heath did not return just to skate and implies that once he gets what he wants, Bella could be hurt. Bella immediately turns the accusation back on Katarina, asking whether Katarina thinks everything is about herself and accusing Katarina of abandoning Heath for Garrett.

When Garrett tells her that they are skating second, Katarina is annoyed but mainly wants to get the evening over with so she can focus fully on Nationals.

The gala begins with a surprise. As the lights change and the announcer introduces a performance from the Lin Ice Academy, Heath skates onto the ice dressed in black. Then Bella appears in Sheila’s Cleopatra dress, glowing under the spotlight and smiling with the same triumphant certainty Sheila once had at the Olympics. The reveal shocks Katarina, making Bella and Heath’s partnership feel public, theatrical, and deliberately threatening.
