After the collision, Katarina accepts a hand up and realizes it belongs to Garrett Lin, Isabella’s twin brother. Katarina immediately recognizes the famous siblings as Sheila Lin’s children and measures their youth, talent, and pedigree against her own ambitions. Heath rushes to Katarina’s side, while Garrett apologizes and checks whether she is injured.

Isabella reacts very differently. She insists the crash was Katarina and Heath’s fault because the twins’ program music was playing, and Garrett gently explains that skaters using their music have the right of way during practice. Heath, already tense and protective, leads Katarina away from the twins as pain spreads through Katarina’s shoulder, back, and hip, and Katarina worries that she cannot afford to be hurt with Nationals just beginning.

When Isabella starts to sneer again, Sheila Lin appears and silences her with a single word. Katarina is overwhelmed by seeing her longtime idol in person, especially after embarrassing herself in front of Sheila. Off the ice, Heath helps Katarina onto a bench, puts on her blade guards, and offers ice or a medic; Katarina insists she only needs a moment and wants to keep skating, but Heath goes to find medical help anyway.

Left alone, Katarina feels humiliated and imagines the Lin family judging her mistake. Then Ellis Dean, another skater Katarina noticed earlier, sits beside her and jokes that he wishes she had tried to take out the twins on purpose. Ellis introduces himself, encourages Katarina’s hostility toward Isabella, and makes it clear he dislikes Bella. When Isabella glares at them from across the rink, Katarina glares back until Isabella finally looks away, and Katarina claims the moment as her first small victory in a rivalry she now intends to pursue.
