The photo showed a wedding ring, which Ash noted resembled a ring she had found at home.

Jane also said that while many people named Nick Radcliffe exist, none matched this man’s details: no official trace of a co-owner of Bar Amelie, a Tooting resident, or a 1990s colleague of Paddy. Similarly, aside from the life-coach presence about a decade ago, there was no other record of Justin Warshaw. Jane called him a “pop-up man” and added that his car was recently leased from a Vauxhall dealership about three weeks earlier, with leaseholder details pending.

They pursued a lead from the reviews by contacting Sarah May on Instagram. Sarah replied quickly, confirming she had used Justin Warshaw as a life coach years ago and agreeing to a Zoom call the next day. Jane shared her email to arrange it.

When Jane asked if Ash would tell Nina, Ash hesitated and opened up about her history: after university she had a breakdown and returned home with a major mental health diagnosis, which left her treated as a wayward child. Since Paddy’s death, Ash felt overattached to Nina and had been policing her grief; she worried that warning Nina now would seem like sabotaging Nina’s happiness.

Jane responded compassionately, saying she understood being seen as an unreliable narrator. She proposed that they continue investigating together, compile irrefutable evidence, speak to Sarah May, and then present a dossier to Nina. They agreed to keep their findings between them for now, and Ash expressed gratitude for Jane’s support.
