Jonathan, hiding in Amanda’s flat, hears Tara at the door identifying him as Jonathan Truscott. Tara pushes past Amanda and shows her phone with images proving Jonathan’s identity and a photo of Jonathan with Martha at a hotel that weekend. Amanda, shocked, tries to process Tara’s claims while Jonathan steps out to control the confrontation.

Tara asserts that Jonathan is her husband and accuses him of bigamy, suggesting they call the police. The collision of Jonathan’s compartmentalized lives triggers a loss of control. He lunges for Tara’s phone, slams her against the wall, and threatens her.

As Tara tells him it is over, Jonathan escalates to violence, pressing his forearm against her throat to choke her. Tara fights back, scratching and kicking. Jonathan calls to Amanda for help. Under pressure and confusion, Amanda restrains Tara’s arms while Jonathan continues choking her until Tara collapses and stops breathing.

Jonathan checks Tara’s pulse and confirms she is dead. Amanda, horrified, demands to know who Tara is and what they should do. Jonathan immediately spins a story, claiming Tara is a long-term stalker who robbed and terrorized him for fifteen years, forcing him to change identities and move repeatedly.

When Amanda suggests calling the police and arguing self-defense, Jonathan refuses, insisting they cannot involve authorities. He frames the situation as dangerous for both of them and secures Amanda’s reluctant agreement to handle the aftermath privately. He then tells Amanda he has a plan: “This is what we’re going to do.”
