Summary
Dalinar manifests a vision at a fortress with a bloodred wall and brings Navani and Jasnah by holding their hands, demonstrating growing control. Jasnah analyzes technology and architecture, dating the scene to roughly two millennia after Aharietiam and suggesting the “False Desolation.” Navani resolves to pinpoint Feverstone Keep’s location for future study.
Dalinar has the Stormfather include Prime Aqasix Yanagawn. Together they witness Knights Radiant abandon Shardblades and Plate. Dalinar guides Yanagawn from the gates to avoid the impending rush and violence. Yanagawn questions the meaning, while Dalinar admits ignorance but insists the visions are preparation and a hedge if Azir refuses to join the coalition.
Yanagawn confesses insecurity and notes Azir’s viziers fear Dalinar’s cultural impact more than an assassin. Dalinar urges a visit to Urithiru and the Oathgate’s opening, then judges the Recreance harshly, claiming the Radiants lost purpose to politics. The Stormfather rumbles in agreement. Yanagawn repeats Lift’s distrust of Dalinar’s righteousness. A soldier speaks with the Almighty’s voice, issuing the familiar warning as men begin slaughter over Shards; Yanagawn fades as the vision should end.
Instead, Dalinar remains. With the Stormfather silent, a man in white and gold appears—old, Shin-looking, crowned and bearing a scepter. Dalinar kneels, calling him God. The figure denies being Honor and identifies himself as Odium, revealing a direct, chilling encounter beyond the usual bounds of the visions.
