Bela says she stepped back too far and fell down the slide, while Mommy insists she had been watching and treats the fall like a simple accident.

Dr. Smith keeps asking whether Bela felt dizzy or saw anything strange before she fell. Bela thinks about what she saw at the park and about the danger Other Mommy may pose, but she is afraid to say too much. Because of that fear, Bela first says she felt no dizziness and saw nothing unusual.

When Dr. Smith asks whether Bela was scared, Bela finally admits that she was, and then names what frightened her: Other Mommy. The answer shocks her parents. Daddo says Bela has not used that name in years, and Mommy dismisses it as a childhood thing, though Mommy immediately suggests they should cancel the party planned for that night.

Dr. Smith asks whether Bela thought she saw an imaginary friend at the playground, but Bela does not want to keep talking and only says she does not know. When Daddo asks why Dr. Smith suspected Bela might have seen something, Dr. Smith explains that Bela is normally strong and coordinated, so falling without a reason seems unlike her. He then examines Bela, says he sees no sign of concussion or broken bones, and ends on an unsettling note by joking that the geese-and-ducks wallpaper can seem to move out of the corner of his eye.
