The woman on the bed continues into a bitter reflection on marriage and motherhood. She says Daddo is too kind and understanding, claims that parenthood feels like imprisonment, and argues that having a child should not erase a parent's right to pursue desire. Bela senses that Mommy has been drinking and lies still, disturbed by both the content and the tone of the confession.

As the speech grows stranger, Bela hears the house creaking and thinks Daddo is approaching the bedroom. Meanwhile, the figure on the bed starts talking about reincarnation and a second chance, then asks whether Bela would "let me in" and give her life. That request links the monologue to Other Mommy's earlier attempts to gain entry into Bela's heart.

The scene breaks when a figure appears in the doorway and it is the real Mommy, asking Bela who she is talking to. Bela runs toward the door and sees Other Mommy sitting on the bed with a huge, deranged face. Mommy turns on the light, screams, and, now clearly seeing the entity herself, grabs Bela and runs from the room, repeating that Daddo is not home.

Mommy carries Bela downstairs, rushes her outside, and stops on the front lawn facing the house while shaking violently. Bela remains behind Mommy's legs as both stare up toward Bela's bedroom. When Mommy, terrified, asks if it was Other Mommy, Bela confirms it, and the chapter ends with Mommy visibly realizing that the threat inside the house is real.
