Bela waits on a bench outside a large church with Daddo while Mommy and Grandma Ruth go inside to ask for help. Daddo tries to explain why the haunting has shaken Mommy so badly, saying that adults build a stable sense of reality over many years and are not prepared for something that breaks it. While he is frightened and uncertain, Daddo also comforts Bela, apologizes for what is happening, and insists that this crisis will not last forever.

During the conversation, Daddo asks Bela to stop using the familiar name Bela has for the entity because Mommy hates hearing it called that. His request shows that the adults are trying to change how they think about the being: not as a strange companion from Bela's life, but as something dangerous. Bela, however, is still trying to understand what any adult can actually do against it.

When Mommy and Grandma Ruth return, their expressions immediately show that the church has refused to help. Mommy says the priests would not even come to the house, did not believe their account, and questioned their sanity, drug use, and religious extremism instead. Grandma Ruth confirms that the priests were dismissive, and Mommy says they even told the family to go to the police, despite the fact that they already had.

Because the church offers nothing, Mommy reaches a harsher conclusion: if the family wants its life back, they will have to kill the entity themselves. Daddo is shocked but cannot offer another solution, and the adults briefly talk about practical violence, including guns and simply trying to shove it. Bela watches two priests leave the church and feels as if the whole world is walking away from the family. Left without outside help, Bela begins thinking about whether the worse act would be hurting Other Mommy or helping it.
