In the aftermath of Claude’s death, Carl receives a mocking achievement for finishing a quest before it was formally assigned. Donut refuses to climb down from a gore-covered tree, while Holger breaks down over the deaths of Clint and Miss Nadine. Carl blames himself for summoning the monster that led to the chaos, but Areson insists Miss Nadine died fighting and was worthy, which frames her death as a warrior’s end rather than a meaningless accident.

While the fighting in the water dies down, Carl sends Samantha to scout the far shore where the ursines were attacked. As he waits, Carl searches the riverbank slope for traps so he can improve Find Traps instead of simply triggering everything with Tripper. He accidentally activates several summoning traps, but each brings in already-dead naiad guards because the were-castors have killed them. When Find Traps reaches level 10, Carl can finally see the hidden trap network clearly and collects mostly alarm, glue, and summoning traps. He learns the summoning traps would only be useful through Donut, since Carl has no town or minions of his own.

Samantha eventually reports that the ursines on the opposite shore have been slaughtered, apparently by a single huge three-toed dinosaur, with pink feathers scattered around the site. Carl retrieves one feather, and Areson identifies the likely killer as Big Tina, a dangerous young dinosaur known for wearing a pink boa, attacking towns, and especially killing ursines. That information triggers a new quest that pushes Carl to either kill Big Tina or learn what is driving her behavior. Donut, awakened by the quest notification, complains that the group is not getting enough action.

Signet then returns from the underwater assault and confirms that her forces have taken the castle. However, the victory is hollow: the confederate kingdom was already collapsing, the castle was badly neglected, and even the throne room had fallen to an eryops. Because the confederacy has effectively rotted from within, Signet’s liberation of the castle changes little by itself. The first part of her revenge quest completes, and the second part immediately redirects Carl and Donut toward the real enemy: Queen Imogen, Signet’s half-sister and the high elf ruler who can likely only be reached at an elite annual party for top players.

The chapter ends on a subdued note instead of triumph. Signet says they will pursue Queen Imogen later, but for now the camp must mourn its losses. The were-castors gather around Miss Nadine’s remains and search in vain for Clint’s body, while Signet admits she cannot rule because of her curse. Samantha casually reminds Signet of their bargain for a new body, and Edgar emerges from the water, sees the loss, and answers Signet’s question about the remaining moonlight before going to fetch his stick.
