He concedes the knife may not have Sarah’s fingerprints, but proposes anonymously delivering it to the sheriff’s office to put pressure on Sarah as the case has been reopened, hoping intense scrutiny will force a mistake.

Brad warns the knife alone may not be enough to convict Sarah; Bob replies he does not need a conviction, only to shift the spotlight and hinder whatever Sarah is planning against him. Bob admits he does not know Sarah’s exact plan, only that he believes she aims to take him down, so he intends to strike first.

Brad then reveals that Sarah has filed for a protective order against Bob, alleging threats and physical assault. She submitted Bob’s text messages and photos of injuries she claims came from Bob grabbing her arm at their daughter Summer’s swim meet. Bob angrily denies abusing Sarah, saying she cut his hand with a knife and that “Sarah never does anything by accident.”

Brad explains the order is not yet granted but could restrict Bob from being near Sarah, and practically from Summer if Summer is with Sarah. He advises Bob to behave as if the order is already in place and avoid contact to prevent giving Sarah more ammunition. Bob asks Brad to discreetly get the knife into Sheriff Marcus Hudson’s hands and to “tie it to” Sarah.

Leaving the office, Bob retrieves a hidden flip phone from his car and sends a coded message to a single saved contact, changing plans to meet at a boutique hotel off Route 28 near Sudley at 11 a.m., Room 518. The reply comes back “Noted.” Bob powers down the phone, internally vowing, “’Til death do us part, Sarah. Yours … not mine,” indicating an escalated, potentially violent intent.
