Stacy Howard narrates from a pitch-black basement where she and Carissa Brooks are chained. Stacy describes the oppressive conditions, her routine of eating the food tossed down the stairs, and how sleep overtakes them after meager meals. She reassures Carissa as Carissa wakes disoriented and panicked.

Carissa asks where they are, and Stacy admits she does not know. Stacy reflects on her own abduction: someone opened her car door, pressed a sweet-smelling damp cloth over her face, and injected her arm before she blacked out.

Carissa begins to recover fragments of memory from the day she disappeared. She recalls working at her salon, cutting a last client who bled when she slipped while shaving his neck. She says she cleaned him, finished the haircut, and then her memory blurs. Pressed by Stacy, Carissa identifies the client as Bob and believes he did not leave the salon.

When Stacy asks if the client was Bob Miller, Carissa is surprised Stacy knows his name. Stacy confesses she had a one-time affair with Bob. Carissa then remembers being in the back of a vehicle, unable to move, and hearing a man—whom she believes was Bob—talking about not letting a woman, possibly his wife, "get away with it" and that he would take her down first.

Stacy privately acknowledges motive: she had threatened to tell Bob’s wife unless he paid her, admitting to a pattern of targeting married men for money. She reveals Bob did not pay and that she never actually informs the wives. Stacy believes Bob took matters into his own hands, which could explain her abduction.

As the implications sink in, Carissa panics and accuses Stacy of causing their predicament by blackmailing Bob. Stacy tries to calm her but, internally, accepts that Carissa may be right and fears they may die in the basement.
