After recognizing that the girl in Jeannette Cross’s family photo identified as Whitney is actually Krista, Blake experiences dizziness and panic. He hastily excuses himself, thanks Jeannette, and rushes out to his rental car to regroup and make calls.

Blake attempts to contact Stacie Parker, his former boss’s assistant, but the call goes to voicemail. Checking Facebook, he sees a post from Stacie’s roommate stating Stacie is missing and asking for information, which makes Blake fear the three severed fingers he found belong to Stacie, especially because the nails were painted pink.

Blake reflects that he had a single affair with Stacie during a stressful period at work, believed it was over, and thought Krista never found out. He now concludes Krista knew all along and may have targeted Stacie.

While fumbling in his jacket, Blake discovers a folded notebook page containing a suicide note written in handwriting similar to his own, confessing to losing his job and “all the lives I’ve taken,” and stating an intention to end his life. He suspects Krista planted it to frame his death as a suicide, consistent with Jeannette’s warnings about a prior staged suicide.

Blake considers how the note would be used if he were found dead and imagines potential murder scenarios at the brownstone. Then he notices a Ziploc bag with one remaining cookie on the passenger seat and realizes Krista baked cookies knowing he would eat them before driving to Telmont.

Fearing he has been poisoned, Blake jumps out of the car and forces himself to vomit into the bushes until he empties his stomach, trying to counteract whatever he may have ingested.
