Summary
Blake wakes the next morning with a bad hangover, lamenting that he has not felt this way in years and wishing Krista would return. When the doorbell rings repeatedly, he hesitates, but hears Whitney speaking quietly with a visitor downstairs.
Descending, Blake sees Whitney talking with Malcolm, who is dressed for work at Coble & Roy. Their ease with each other unsettles Blake. When noticed, Blake confronts them; Whitney departs, saying she will let Malcolm speak to Blake. Blake asks how Malcolm knows Whitney, and Malcolm explains he knows her from Cosmo’s diner.
Malcolm apologizes for his prior behavior at Cooper’s and then produces a blue velvet box. Blake recoils, refusing to accept it as a breakup gesture. Malcolm clarifies that Krista wants space, asked him to return the engagement ring, and suggested Blake sell it to help with expenses. Malcolm adds that Krista still has feelings for Blake and urges patience.
Overwhelmed and near tears, Blake orders Malcolm to leave. Malcolm sets the ring box on the coffee table and exits. Alone, Blake is devastated but decides he must see Krista.
Blake texts Krista, insisting on seeing her. She initially says it is not a good idea, but after he pleads, she agrees to meet in an hour. Blake notes he has just enough time to shower, determined to go to Becky’s house to see Krista.
