After dinner, Justin and Emma continue their date by visiting antique stores and jokingly searching for the creepiest baby doll. The call turns out to be from Leigh and Christine, who are both drunk and stranded in Hudson after being banned from rideshare apps. Although Emma had previously avoided meeting Justin's mother, she agrees to help pick them up. In the car, Justin learns that Christine and Leigh were banned after trying to transport orphaned baby raccoons they rescued from the roadside. Emma immediately embraces the chaos, cuddles one of the raccoons, laughs with the women, and fits easily into Justin's family dynamic.

During the drive, the comedy gives way to the real pain of Christine's impending prison sentence. Leigh promises to support both Christine and the children, and Christine breaks down crying.
