Chapter 6: Justin
Overview
Justin learns that Emma really did come to Minnesota, and his shock quickly turns into excitement when she tells him she will be there for six weeks. Her choice to skip Hawaii makes their plan suddenly real, moving their online connection into a face-to-face relationship with an imminent first meeting.
Summary
Justin receives Emma's picture and is stunned to realize she is in Minnesota. He reacts so abruptly that his chair falls over and startles Brad, then immediately calls Emma because he cannot believe she actually came.
On the phone, Justin excitedly asks whether Emma is only passing through on her way to Hawaii and offers to meet her right away. Emma reveals that she is not just visiting briefly: she is staying for six weeks.
Emma's decision confirms that she skipped Hawaii and chose the Minnesota arrangement instead, which makes Justin openly happy. Emma tells Justin she is staying in a cottage on an island on Lake Minnetonka, and the two agree to meet the next day. The call ends on a warm note when Emma echoes Justin's earlier praise of the state and says Minnesota is beautiful.
