An epigraph stresses that intent is paramount. In Urithiru, Navani waits alone in her makeshift cell, too sick with guilt to study or risk contacting the Sibling. Hours pass with unresponsive guards until Raboniel appears, calm and in control.

Raboniel reveals she has been listening to Navani’s conversations with the Sibling the entire time—personally or via other Fused—confirming Navani inadvertently gave away the third node. Raboniel frames the manipulation as careful seeding and observation, praising persistence over chance.

When Navani asks how the Sibling’s communications were compromised, Raboniel offers no details, instead directing Navani back to research: study Light and help end the war. Before departing, Raboniel updates Navani on Kaladin: he destroyed the node, but Raboniel wounded him; when he was later spotted fleeing, the wound had not healed—evidence the Sibling’s transformation is nearly complete and Radiant powers are unreliable. She assumes Kaladin ran into the highstorm and likely died.

Left alone, Navani burns a written prayer for Kaladin’s protection—the only action she feels she can take—then lays her head on the table, grappling with the scope of her failure as Part Three ends.
