Chapter Forty-Seven
Overview
Mikail walks into the gang’s warehouse trap by presenting Ty and Aeri as “returned goods,” buying the team time to position for a coordinated breach. Sora manipulates the gang leader into kissing her, and he collapses moments later as Euyn and Royo storm the building and the crew executes a ruthless, no-survivors massacre. Ty proves unexpectedly lethal while Aeri frees Sora, but the chapter ends on a cliffhanger as Aeri’s warning comes too late and Mikail realizes an unseen attacker is about to kill him.
Summary
Mikail arrives at a warehouse called The Mine and uses the kidnapped Ty and Aeri as a pretext to get inside, claiming he is returning them to the gang’s boss for a reward. The doorman lets them in without searching them, confident in the gang’s numbers. Inside, Mikail spots Sora bound to a beam, bruised and with her dress torn, and identifies the young, self-important gang leader surrounded by his men.
As a knock sounds at the door, Sora intervenes to keep the “king’s guard” out, performing distress and devotion to manipulate the leader. Sora claims Sora’s parents sold Sora and begs to be hidden, flattering the leader’s ego until he approaches, grips Sora’s face, and kisses Sora. A second knock—Euyn’s signal—confirms the team is in position to spring the trap.
Mikail immediately kills a nearby man and the raid begins: Euyn kicks in the front door and fires bolts into the room while Royo bursts in through the back. The warehouse erupts into a close-quarters slaughter, and the gang leader suddenly collapses clutching his throat, implying Sora used the kiss to poison him. Mikail throws Ty a sword and orders Ty to watch Mikail’s back as Mikail cuts down attackers with increasingly disgusted commentary about the poor-quality weapons.
In the chaos, Aeri rushes to free Sora, nearly struck by a man from behind until Euyn shoots the attacker and Ty drives a blade through him, splashing blood across Aeri’s dress. When the gang’s second-in-command tries to strike Aeri, Ty slashes his throat with excessive force, and Aeri finally cuts Sora loose. The team continues clearing the room as Euyn’s bolts drop men rapidly and Royo fights brutally, even leaving his axe embedded in a wall map.
When three men charge Mikail at once, Euyn tosses Mikail his real sword, and Mikail kills all three in a single spinning strike, ending the gang’s resistance. Mikail reflects that the baiting “father and daughter” betrayed them as expected and admits Mikail told Euyn “null” and Royo “no survivors” to ensure a full wipe once everyone was drawn inside. As the survivors regroup among the bodies and Mikail turns attention to the others’ safety, Aeri’s expression shifts to alarm as Aeri tries to warn Mikail—too late—leaving Mikail certain Mikail is about to be killed.
