Chapter Fifty-Seven
Overview
Mikail and Euyn’s private moment is abruptly interrupted by a scream at Count Dal’s estate, forcing them into action. Outside, the team finds a fresh corpse with a throwing knife in his neck. Mikail identifies the victim as a palace assassin, raising the stakes by signaling royal-level operatives are now involved and close.
Summary
Mikail, staying as a guest at Count Dal’s water-filled estate in Aseyo, reflects on how excessive the villa is compared to the capital. In his bedroom, Mikail is having sex with Euyn and deliberately taunting him, enjoying pushing the prince to forget status and focus on raw desire.
Just as Euyn is about to give in to Mikail’s demand that he beg, a sudden scream erupts from outside the villa. Mikail and Euyn immediately separate, grab their weapons, and dress in seconds.
They sprint outside to find the source, covering each other—Mikail with his sword, Euyn with his bow—but arrive too late to intervene. The rest of the team is already gathered in tense silence.
Under the moonlight, Mikail sees a man lying face down on the ground with a throwing knife embedded in the side of his half-slit neck. Noticing the stylized all-black clothing, Mikail realizes the dead man is a palace assassin, confirming a dangerous new presence at Dal’s estate.
