On the walk, Paedyn studies the other competitors and the princes. Paedyn drops into the dark room and literally falls into Kai's arms, leading to more charged banter between them. While they wait, Andy reveals that she is cousin to Kai and half-cousin to Kitt and explains that she and her father work in the palace as handies, which gives Paedyn new insight into the princes' upbringing.

When the crowd arrives, the contestants are called back up. Kitt quietly removes the flower from Paedyn's hair before the public can see it, and Kai later helps her in his own provocative way by ripping a slit in her tight dress so she can pull herself through the trap door. Once they enter the Pit, Tealah, an Amplifier, opens the sixth Purging Trials and announces that this year will be different because a future Enforcer is competing. That declaration confirms that Kai's presence is reshaping the spectacle and likely the danger of the Trials themselves.

The interviews then proceed as a public showcase of strength.
