In his cobbler’s shop in Iri, Ym carves a wooden last and muses about experience and Iriali beliefs while a peculiar, shimmering spren with tiny sprouting light approaches. He speaks gently to it, but when it warns, “He comes,” only a ragged urchin appears at the door. Ym invites the boy in, offering shoes in exchange for the boy’s story.

Learning the child is alone and injured, Ym cleans the boy’s feet and discovers a deep, infected cut swarmed by rotspren. Knowing the boy cannot rest to heal, Ym secretly draws on the Light of a hidden broam, and the infection flees as the wound scabs over. He masks the miracle as medicine, then fits the boy with sturdy shoes, sharing the Iriali “One” philosophy and promising life can improve.

After the boy leaves, the spren returns and whispers another warning. Rustling from the back room resolves into a dark-skinned, emotionless man in black and silver with a pale crescent on his cheek. He states that Ym lived cleanly for years but was once an accomplice to murder, delivering poisoned wine decades ago. A weapon forms from mist into his hand—a Shardblade.

Ym bolts into the night, but age leaves him winded. The uniformed man catches him, intoning “Justice does not expire.” He drives the Shardblade through Ym’s chest. The spren’s cautions, Ym’s quiet compassion, and his mysterious healing end abruptly with his execution, revealing a relentless, hidden enforcer pursuing old crimes.
