Hunt trails Bryce from above as she runs through the city, from the Old Square through Asphodel Meadows and the CBD. While following her, he receives updates: Justinian reports nothing new on the kristallos; Vik confirms the Viper Queen's alibis check out; and Isaiah confirms the alley victim was a missing temple acolyte—a young Fae girl. Hunt connects the victim to their visit to the temple, realizing it cannot be coincidence. He regrets pushing Bryce to the crime scene and realizes, upon seeing her traumatized reaction, that she is clearly not involved in the murders. He reflects on his centuries of enslavement and his remaining decency, and plans an apology.

When Bryce enters the White Raven nightclub, Hunt lands and talks his way past the bouncers with help from the club's owner, Riso. Inside, he finds Bryce in a booth sipping what appears to be a clear drink. Her friend Juniper Andromeda, a faun ballerina, arrives and joins them. Hunt orders food for himself and for Bryce, having noticed she hasn't eaten all day. Bryce angrily tells him off for being possessive and controlling. When Hunt grabs her wrist to stop her from drinking more, he discovers her glass contains water, not vodka—she doesn't drink at all.

Bryce storms off toward the bathroom, and Juniper follows to calm her down. While they're on the dance floor, Ruhn Danaan appears at the booth. He tells Hunt that Riso called him about Bryce's state, and he came to check on her. Ruhn reveals Bryce used to dance and would have pursued ballet like Juniper, but stopped dancing entirely after Danika's death. Hunt realizes Bryce is not the party girl she lets the world believe she is, and acknowledges he has badly misjudged her.

Bryce spots Ruhn at the booth and gives him an icy look. She takes one step toward them before the club suddenly explodes.
