Despite her grief, Bryce spends the morning filling out job applications and sending them all, determined to leave her position at the gallery. She calls Ruhn, who comes immediately to her apartment to watch over the sleeping Hunt, following the medication and wound-care schedule Bryce prepared.

At lunch, Bryce visits her apartment. Ruhn notes that Micah went easy on Hunt since Sabine could have demanded his death, given that Hunt is a slave with no legal rights. Bryce says she will never forget Hunt's scream or Sabine's smile. Ruhn expresses a desire to be more present as her brother, but Bryce offers no response, and he appears hurt. She returns to the gallery and mechanically executes a three-million-gold-mark sale for Jesiba without truly being present.

Back in the library by three o'clock, Bryce opens Redner Industries' login page. She enters Danika's username, "dfendyr," and tries multiple passwords—"SabineSucks," birthdays, holy numbers—without success. Meanwhile, Ruhn texts updates: Hunt woke, took his potions, asked about Bryce, and sent his thanks. After reading the messages, Bryce types the phrase "Through love, all is possible"—the words on Danika's leather jacket, tattooed on Bryce's back, and whispered to Danika by the Oracle. The password works in the common language.

Bryce browses Danika's files and finds mostly mundane Redner reports. She notices an anomalous subfolder called "Party Invites"—unusual for the disorganized Danika—which contains a folder titled "Bryce." Inside is a single photo of Danika's old leather jacket. Realizing it's a clue, Bryce grabs the jacket from upstairs and runs her fingers along every seam. She finds a hard lump hidden along the letter L in "love" and cuts into the leather with scissors, revealing a small flash drive.

Bryce inserts the drive into her laptop and discovers three unmarked videos. She opens the first one. After watching in silence, Lehabah whispers, "Gods spare us," indicating the contents are deeply alarming.
