Epilogue
Overview
In a cryptic epilogue, Aidas (in cat form) and Jesiba Roga meet in Oracle's Park to discuss revelations about Bryce carrying Theia's ancient, supposedly extinct light, and hints about Hunt Athalar's mysterious parentage. They also reference a hidden library that Jesiba has secretly relocated. Aidas's parting words suggest far greater conflicts and secrets are yet to unfold, setting up future stakes beyond the events of this book.
Summary
The epilogue takes place in the Oracle's Park, where Aidas, Prince of the Chasm—the fifth Prince of Hel—sits in the form of a white cat with blue opal eyes. Jesiba Roga approaches him and questions why he never told her about Bryce. Aidas admits he didn't trust anyone, not even Jesiba, with the knowledge he had about Bryce's nature.
Jesiba expresses surprise that Theia's light still exists, having believed it was extinguished when Theia died on a battlefield at the hands of Prince Pelias. Aidas confirms that Bryce Quinlan carries Theia's light, explaining that he can distinguish between Bryce's starlight and her brother Ruhn's because the exact quality of Theia's light remains unforgettable to him—"a song in my blood." This reveals a deep, ancient connection between Aidas and Theia.
When Jesiba asks about Hunt Athalar, Aidas cryptically says he believes "Athalar's father would have been proud." Jesiba's response—calling him sentimental—and Aidas's remark that Jesiba "knew the male best" hint that Hunt's parentage involves a significant figure known to both of them. Meanwhile, Aidas notes that demons from the Pit exploited the portals opened through the quartz Gates during the recent crisis, and his brothers are currently punishing the escapees.
The conversation turns to a mysterious library, which Jesiba confirms has already been moved and hidden. Aidas does not press for its location. As Aidas departs, fading back toward Hel, Jesiba warns him not to betray them again. Aidas replies that he has no intention of doing so—"not when things are about to get so interesting"—implying that larger conflicts and revelations lie ahead.
