Miles drives Daphne to a hidden stretch of national lakeshore beach, parking on a country road and walking through moonlit woods. On the way, Daphne apologizes for an earlier snobby comment about his odd jobs, admitting she wanted to believe Peter had legitimate reasons to dislike Miles rather than romantic ones. Miles reassures her she isn't stupid for trusting Peter.

They settle on the dune with their fries and milkshake. Miles teases Daphne about the moan she made tasting the shake, and lends her his sweatshirt when she shivers. She finds a joint in the pocket; Miles offers it without pressure, and Daphne, wanting to discover which parts of her life are truly hers and not Peter's, takes a hit. They share the joint and talk.

Miles probes where Daphne spends her time, and she admits she mostly reads alone or works on library programs. She reveals she's been checking job listings, hoping to move to Maryland to be near her mom, and recounts losing her best friend Sadie, who refused to take sides after the breakup. Miles shares only that he's close with his sister in Chicago but goes quiet about his parents.

Miles urges Daphne not to let Peter drive her away from Waning Bay or her beloved library job, especially given her bond with young patron Maya and her upcoming Read-a-thon. He proposes being her tour guide on Sundays through July, insisting he likes her and doesn't want her to leave.

Petra texts Miles, saying Katya told her she's happy for him and Daphne. Stirred by anger on Miles's behalf, Daphne stages photos of them cuddling, kissing his cheek, to send Petra a message that Miles deserved better. Miles thanks her with a kiss to her temple. They remain wrapped together on the beach, Daphne dreamily telling him he might be the nicest person she's ever met.
