Driving home from the secret beach, Miles takes Daphne's hand, and the tension that has been building all summer finally breaks. Inside the apartment, they kiss against the door and move into the kitchen, undressing each other. Their first time together is intense and emotional, leaving Daphne feeling vulnerable and exposed. Afterward, she laughs from sheer happiness, and Miles holds her close.

They shower separately and Miles makes banana chocolate chip pancakes. Standing in the kitchen, he asks about her father, and Daphne deflects by claiming people don't want her around. Miles confronts her for repeatedly dismissing his opinion and insists his wanting her counts.

Daphne admits she overheard his earlier phone call, and Miles explains it was his father, who has been harassing him to make Julia forgive him. His dad tracked Julia down through social media, told their mother, who showed up at the restaurant and upset Julia so badly she quit, got fired, and flew to Waning Bay. Miles apologizes for dumping it on Daphne, saying he's used to keeping things separate, but with her nothing is.

Daphne breaks down, confessing that watching Jason leave was painful because she would forgive him again in a heartbeat, and she fears Miles will eventually see whatever drives people away. Miles tells her that her father and Peter leave because she truly sees them, and they can't handle being known. He says she makes people feel wanted in all their parts, and that's terrifying but worth it. He calls her worth it.

Daphne tells Miles she wants all the parts of him too. He says they want her too, kisses her, and they move to her bedroom together.
