Nina has been locked in the attic for about twenty hours after Andy deemed she used too much air freshener. He demands another child, but Nina secretly got an IUD to deny him that leverage. As punishment, Andy forces her to pepper-spray her own eyes before she can be released, leaving her in burning pain.

Through the unboarded window, Nina is seen by Enzo, who storms into the house using a hidden key and confronts the locked attic door. Revealing fluent English, Enzo insists on freeing her and threatens to break the door down. Fearing retaliation, deportation risks for Enzo, harm to Cecelia, and another Clearview commitment, Nina convinces him to leave, and he warns he’ll return with police if she isn’t seen by morning.

That night Andy releases Nina. By morning her face looks mostly normal. After Andy departs with Cecelia for school, Nina meets Enzo outside. He demands the truth, and Nina fully describes the attic imprisonment, Andy’s tortures, and finding Cecelia unconscious in the bathtub years ago.

Enzo, enraged, vows to kill Andy, but Nina stops him, citing certain legal consequences. Enzo then pivots, urging Nina to leave Andy and promising to find a way to help her escape, despite lacking immediate resources. Nina desperately wants to believe him.
