Summary
In the morning, Millie finds Nina tearing apart the kitchen, emptying cabinets and the refrigerator, and even smashing a carton of milk while searching for PTA notes. When Millie asks what is wrong, Nina accuses her of throwing the notes away, insisting she left them on the counter.
Andrew arrives, sees the destruction, and comforts Nina as she cries that her notes are gone. He asks if any notes are saved on the computer; Nina says only some, implying she must redo much of the work. Millie begins to apologize despite uncertainty over the notes’ fate, trying to avoid conflict.
Nina orders Millie to clean the mess and storms out. After Nina leaves, Andrew tells Millie that Nina is high-strung but has a good heart, then starts to help with the cleanup. Millie insists on handling it, and Andrew steps back, thanking her.
As Millie mops and gathers broken dishes and spilled food, she remembers a photo of Andrew and Nina looking happy early in their relationship. She notes Andrew’s enduring devotion and senses that Nina has changed, but resolves that it is not her business and focuses on her job.
