Contains spoilersOverview
Olivia confronts Vincent with Poppy’s diary and a bonfire film clip, triggering Vincent’s violent, dementia-fueled outburst and a full breakdown. Paramedics sedate Vincent after he injures himself, and Alma orders Olivia to leave. Alone, Olivia replays the clip, recognizes Paul Stewart in the footage, and resolves to question her mother next.
Summary
Still reeling from Vincent’s admission that his alibi was a lie and he had been in the house the night of the murders, Olivia maintains a professional facade and produces Poppy’s diary. Vincent is surprised to see it and struggles to read; at his request, Olivia reads entries about Lydia’s rumored pregnancy and a film clip Poppy labeled as something Vincent did not want her to see.
Olivia plays the referenced clip on her laptop: a bonfire, teens laughing, and an older man briefly visible picking up cans. Vincent studies it tensely, then suddenly swats the computer to the floor and erupts, accusing “Lydia” of abandoning him and blaming her for going to a party. Olivia identifies herself, but Vincent is lost in delusion, pacing, shouting, and throwing books.
Alma rushes in, orders Olivia to leave, and tries to calm Vincent. He escalates, hurling a book and punching through a window, badly cutting his hand. Alma instructs Olivia to call 911 and specifies that Vincent is a cognitively impaired patient who needs sedation.
Paramedics arrive, sedate and bandage Vincent, and take him by ambulance. When Olivia tries to accompany him, Alma blocks her, saying Olivia is a trigger and should return to Los Angeles until Vincent stabilizes; Alma also casts doubt on whether Olivia can finish the book.
After the ambulance departs, Olivia tidies the wrecked office and replays the bonfire clip to determine what provoked Vincent. She notes anonymous teens and focuses on the older man collecting cans. Freezing the frame, she identifies him as Paul Stewart and concludes the clip captured one of his parties, which likely explains Vincent’s fury.
Recognizing the implications and sensing a new lead tied to Paul Stewart and Lydia’s past, Olivia decides it is time to speak to her mother to learn what happened that night.
