Chapter 30
Overview
Thrown into the beasts after Ivan’s attack, Oraya survives only by finally embracing the fear and rage she has spent her life suppressing. Guided by Raihn through their bond, she unleashes a catastrophic surge of Nightfire that carries her to the end of the trial and reveals the true scale of her power.
The chapter marks a major internal breakthrough for Oraya and deepens her bond with Raihn, whose panic and devotion help save her. Vincent’s stunned reaction shows that Oraya’s transformation has shifted the stakes far beyond simple survival in the Kejari.
Summary
After Ivan stabs and paralyzes Oraya, he throws her into the frenzied beasts below. Unable to move at first, Oraya faces the same kind of death that killed Ilana and is nearly overwhelmed by demons and other starving creatures drawn by her blood. The terror of being devoured alive leaves her on the edge of surrender.
Through the magical bond, Raihn feels Oraya’s panic and sends his own fear back to her as he runs toward the end of his side of the arena. Realizing he cannot physically reach her in time, Raihn pushes Oraya to use her magic and tells her to stop resisting the fear that fuels it. His urgency and promise that he is with her force Oraya to confront the emotions she has spent her life suppressing.
As the beasts press her into the sand, Oraya finally lets herself feel the grief, rage, and helplessness tied to her parents, her childhood, and a lifetime spent hunted and controlled. She understands that fear can be turned into power when embraced instead of denied. Refusing to die in the arena, Oraya releases her fury completely and calls on Nightfire.
The Nightfire erupts through Oraya with overwhelming force, burning through the beasts, the arena path, and anyone caught in its path. She rises and walks through the destruction toward the top of the wall, leaving scorched stone and white bones behind her. By the time she reaches the final gate, the crowd has fallen silent, stunned by the scale of her power.
At the top, Oraya sees Raihn waiting on his knees, staring at her in awe. He crosses the distance between them and embraces her, and Oraya clings to him despite the audience watching. The moment confirms the depth of their connection, both magical and emotional.
When Raihn sets Oraya down, she looks into the stands and sees Vincent visibly shaken, gripping the rail and clutching his chest as he stares at her. Oraya and Raihn then turn together toward the final door, leaving the devastated arena behind as the Moon Palace receives them in silence.
