Luke Ellis awoke on the floor of a different room, slapped back to consciousness by Priscilla as Dr. Hendricks, Dr. Evans, and Brandon observed. He felt dissociated, nauseated, and sore from earlier procedures and slaps, with dried blood under his nose and an itching injection site. Hendricks questioned him, then had Priscilla and Brandon seat him at a table opposite Evans, who held a stack of large, blue-backed cards.

Although Luke asked to return to his room because he felt sick, Hendricks insisted the disorientation would pass and told him to cooperate with a “little test.” Evans began flipping cards, demanding Luke identify what was on them without showing him the faces. When Luke answered literally or refused, Priscilla slapped him, escalating his distress. Luke recognized that Priscilla viewed him only as a test subject and began to cry as the punishment continued.

As Evans pressed on, Hendricks urged Luke to try. Luke protested that he was telekinetic (TK), not telepathic (TP), and suggested that Kalisha or Avery could do such a task. Evans threatened the zap-stick via Brandon if Luke did not comply. Under duress, Luke shouted random answers, expecting to be shocked, but Evans simply set the card aside and waved Brandon back, offering no relief or explanation.

Hendricks ended the session and told Priscilla to return Luke to his room. During the escort, Luke’s mind began to clear, and he again stated they had made a mistake because he was not TP. Priscilla dismissed him with “Whatever,” then joked with Brandon, who mock-punched at Luke’s face to make him flinch, laughing as Priscilla indulged him. Their casual cruelty underscored Luke’s realization of his dehumanized status.

In the residents’ corridor, Luke noticed the frightened identical twin girls, Gerda and Greta, clutching identical dolls and watching. Priscilla left Luke at his door without comment. Luke found his laptop still in place, collapsed on his bed fully clothed, and slept for five hours, overwhelmed by exhaustion and trauma.
