Trevor Stackhouse, anxious for word from Julia Sigsby, is interrupted by the red security phone. Dr. Everett Hallas babbles that the Back Half kids are out, the Ward A “gorks” have been released, caretakers are injured, and Phil Chaffitz may be dead by electrocution. Stackhouse forces Hallas to relay events coherently as the facility’s general alarm sounds, reportedly triggered by Dr. Joanne James from the crematory.

Stackhouse orders Hallas to collect and burn all orange key cards, then calls Andy Fellowes in the computer room to feed Back Half camera views to his desktop. Cycling through cameras, Stackhouse sees caretakers cowering, injured staff in the corridor, and Ward A residents packed into the elevator. He also spots a group of kids assembling on E-Level with an orange key card—the same type that can open both the tunnel to Front Half and the Front Half F-Level door.

Stackhouse asks Fellowes to stop the elevator or otherwise block the escapees, but the elevator reaches E-Level and the Ward A group exits. He then sees the children, led by the small boy who aided Luke Ellis’s escape, enter the access tunnel toward Front Half. As the group advances, Dr. Anthony Hendricks rushes in, confused and disheveled, while Stackhouse presses Fellowes for a solution.

Fellowes proposes freezing the electronic locks by invalidating orange card authorizations. Stackhouse demands immediate action. Amid this, Stackhouse takes a box-phone call from Julia Sigsby, who states she has reached the off-site location and expects to recapture Luke Ellis or kill him shortly; she orders Stackhouse to handle the on-site crisis.

Fellowes reports that the system now displays a message indicating orange cards are invalid without a new authorization code. Watching the camera trained on the F-Level door at the tunnel’s Front Half end, Stackhouse sees Avery Dixon attempt to open it with the orange card and fail. The children, now guided by Nick Wilholm, try the Back Half door as well and find it also locked.

Concluding the kids are trapped “like flies in a jar,” Stackhouse relaxes, confident the problem is contained until Julia resolves the external “loose end.” Hendricks, however, hesitates and suggests the containment may not be complete, leaving the situation uncertain.
